Yeah if you say the total royalties earned is $1 per unit sold, 50% is good if you only sell 1 million but if you sell 100 million they could only get 0.5% and make the same amount of money while the inventor makes 199 times more. I think there should be a sliding scale depending upon the price and quantity sold. All good ideas should be created equal for them and then add another factor for them depending how much work they need to do although $500,000 should be good enough.

Dont you think it would be cool to just have the whole contract as 1 differential equation and being solvable for any outcome?

So Roger, how did your presentations go? I know this is old hat for you.
They had appointments with 30 inventors- don't know how many inventions each had. I'm sure it was a long day for them.

I had to postpone my presentation until the 24th of this month due to other conflicts. I have dealt with them in the past so this is not a big deal. If anyone went how was their experience?

I did go. Had a great time. Meet with the owner, Mike Collins. He said he liked my product, and will get back with me. He was very nice. Even if nothing comes of it (which of course is most likely), I'm glad I went, and it
was a good experience.

Talked to a couple other inventors. One lady that went to the wrong Courtyard- so was very late. I was setting up in the room after her, and I kept finding bits and pieces of her invention (don't know what it was). She remarked that she didn't give her total presentation- the time went really quickly. Didn't get a feeling that she got very far. Talked to another inventor, Tom. He auditioned for American Inventor in Tampa, and made it to the end. That is until AI found out his business partner had a restraining order- so were dropped instantly. He did get some feedback about how his invention was to techincal or something like that. He seemed bummed as he was leaving.

So they definatley were not just telling everyone they loved them, and their products. Wish I could have just hung around and talked to
more people.

Yeah, I met Mike Collins at Toy Fair in New York a couple of years ago. He is a very straight forward guy. If he thinks your idea isn't marketable he will tell you and why.
As you stated it is also fun to talk with the other Inventors at these audition/presenations. You don't get to find many other Inventors in your area unless it is through these types of things.
It helps if you have an article come out in your local newspaper. Then you get contacted by other Inventors you didn't know where living within a few miles of you.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Ideagirl,

I did not get to go. I had another matter I had to take care of at that time. I contacted them and since I have worked with them before I am going to do a conference call in October.

How did things go for you? Any bites?

They do have a lot of contacts with major companies. So, hopefully you will see something for your efforts. I will keep my fingers crossed. I would say while you are waiting you need to get to work on your next great idea! :D

Hey Roger, still wondering if you presented any ideas to Big Idea Group?
and what you thought?

I entered my 2nd invention idea in their household product hunt, and made the final 30. Won't know if they are considering it for license till Mar 08, which is the same deadline for my 1st invention. So March will be a very important month for me!

I'm guessing your advice would be to work on # 3 while I wait!!
