Can anyone recommend a reputable licensing agent for the DIY

I probably like you all think I have invented a great new time/cost saving device. I am looking for a reputable agent in the USA, as I live in Ireland it is expensive and difficult to sit down in front of any major players. My invention would be sold in all hardware shops/ infomercials/ and has major advantages over conventional methodologies for DIY and professional tradesmen. I have a full working prototype and a patent pending. My invention works, is cheap to produce and all the boxes are ticked. I need a good agent. I have been offered an investment of $100,000 for a share in my invention if I go down the manufacturing route but the investor has no contacts and I have been down the road of manufacturing before and I am aware of all the pitfalls and difficulties and would like to investigate all options.

Garden, I have clients and buyers all over the world. There would be no problem getting your product on shelves here in the United States first but also marketing other potential buyers internationally. I normally get my clients finished products to market for 1/10th of the budget that you mentioned in your post ($100,000). By having that kind of money and knowing where to spend it, your odds of success are greatly improved. I am assuming that the money that you have will not be eaten up during the protyping process. Whoa! Be careful, GG.

Not even a rock-solid NDA will keep someone who is bent on working around your idea from doing so.

Ask yourself if the risk of publication is worth what you are considering, at every turn. Make sure to get as much info as you need from anyone, before disclosing your project.

Your particular questions are an exercise in futililty in that any patent (Utility, Design or Plant) that is 50 years old has expired and is up for grabs (5,000,000 of them) if that patent has not had improvement patents applied to it over the years. The Utility and Plant patent expires after 20 years and the design patent expires after 14 years (Thus there goes any monopoly). That is why I don't understand why the regulars in this forum and the lurkers just don't go to the PTO and pick out an expired patent and see if they can make it work because most patent holders make no money from the sale or licensing of the same. I learned this a long time ago and that is why I had to devise a method whereby I could get my and my clients products to market inexpensively. Those that can, do, those that can't or haven't post to idea forums. If I can be of any further help, don't hesitate to contact me. The PTO is pumping out useless patents at the rate of 1000 a day. Also if you can't stand the truth and pragmatism, I don't think you want to communicate with me. All of my opinions and suggestions are based on 60 years in business (Corporate and Private) and not a pie in the sky scheme or pipe dreams. Happy New Year

I hear you barking dog, come on guys.
I don’t want to get in the middle you are both right. It seems as an inve3ntor you have three options, a) hide under the bed with a can of beans until someone finds you (and they wont), b) go hell for leather get the cash and start making the things. c) Find a manufacturer or agent and negotiate a cut.
I appreciate both your input and paranoia I am afraid the devil of any inventor, pay it too much heed and you will remain in the dark, not enough and you will get a kick in the ass.
I am simply looking right now for a reputable well known agent with a track record that my fellow inventors can recommend, that’s all, thank you for your time,

How do you know there would be no problem getting his product on shelves when you don't even know what it is?

This is exactly where they get you with this pitch. They say they have all kinds of connections yet won't make a few phone calls until you send them the first check and then stonewall you for more money like that's going to make any difference. They will not tell you your product sucks or what is bad about it as long as you send them money. Then after they've strung you along for a year or two tell you that because of some unforeseen change in the market your product is no longer viable. How can you tell someone that with a straight face?

Finding a reputable agent for your invention will be challenging. There are a few that we know of that are not just scam companies looking to profit from your invention. Of those few, most are looking within their specific categories of focus. There are some listed in our Invention Service Providers. You can start there in your search. And please update us to share your experiences as you go about this process.
