Best Fake Invention Contest

So few here have been through the entire invention process, which gives me an idea. We should host a fake invention contest. The rules & procedures would be simple:
0) Elect a panel of judges, or create a voting system.
1) Find out who is interested and able to contribute an hour or two per week.
2) Divide the interested parties into at least two groups, or let those interested form their own groups.
3) Have the groups create a product that would NEVER be sold in the real world. For example, a cell phone that can be used to power an electrical vehicle (EV) when the EV's batteries run dead. This would never work because you'd go 3 inches before the cell phone battery runs out of juice.
4) Define categories, which might include: sell sheets, NDA's, 3d prototype diagrams, provisionals, full patents, business plans, market analysis, 2 minute sales pitch (video)...etc.
5) For each category from (4) judge a winner. Tally the points and determine which team wins. No prizes.

I know where you're coming from Joe. But instead of fake projects, why not go with an actual concept? If someone is willing to contribute their own concept, they can just pick the team the generates the best result.
So, say I offer a completely new invention for this experiment...I've got a year before I even need to worry about US rights. In that time, two or more teams could be organized to provide solid models, marketing materials, physical prototypes, licensing negotiations, manufacturing arrangements...whatever they feel is necessary to generate a deal of some kind.
After almost a year, I can then pick the team that offers the most preferable result for me. The teams can name their own price, as a percentage of whatever deal gets picked.

I like that idea. There are SOOO many skills necessary to bring a product to market, and it makes sense to assemble a group of people who complement the gaps that others possess. With a fake contest you could see who is best able to perform specific functions, and then include the category winners into a team. As you said, you could just as easily assemble a team and learn from the experience. Either would be fun to do.
