That's a great story, Carol. You obviously have the 'passion' part down pat.

Stick around. There is a ton of helpful info on this site.

It seems like you're clever enough to know that IP concerns can play a big part in this. What you can do for yourself is go ahead an DO a patent search to the best of your ability. HIt the databases, and find what you are looking for. There will almost definitely be something similar out there, at least.

Beyond that, it sounds like you would benefit by talking someone you trust about the specifics of your project. Most of the general info on invention doesn't address the specifics of individual projects, with respect to mfg considerations, marketing, and so on.

I will contact you by email, and you are welcome to share specifics with me if you like. I can do my best to point you in the right direction, if I can't help you myself.

But, like I say, stick around. I-Spot is a safe haven for inventors, because you will always get feedback from a variety of perspectives, as well as the latest in trends for innovation.

Cheers

Carol, I agree with Scrup, great story. You can do some of the patent searching yourself at the patent office website http://patft.uspto.gov/ or http://www.google.com/patents. Another place is http://www.freepatentsonline.com/
Read the FAQ section of this site before you start moving forward and spending money it will help you greatly to get started

Come visit my sites at http://www.RogerBrown.net
or http://www.looking2license.com
I have gotten 9 products licensed spending less than $100 on each, you can too.
