This company developed a system use multiple projectors to create extremely large on wall or other surfaces. They use computer and camera to automatic adjust overlap are between projectors. Link http://www.scalabledisplay.com/scalable_l2_product.html

Below picture is how they use 4 projectors to display a 5000 x 1000 pixel photo on a wall. Display measuring 40 by 8 feet.
