This is recent; but now very new. I saw it a while back like 2 month ago.

Israel plan to build this Sneh Aero-Electric Power tower in desert. They pump water, any water including sea water, to top of tower and mist them out, cool the hot/dry desert air and cause down draft. Cool air exits out at bottom tunnels and turns windturbines on the way out to create power.

i saw something very similar on history channel where the air is heated in the sun on the bottom structure and is funnelled up to the top and through turbines to generate power.
