This could be a great boon to all Inventors involved as long as everyone keeps it civil and in focus.

I just concluded a very benificial meeting with a well respected member of the inventing community. He highly reccommended "Collaborative Entrepreneurship: How Communities of Networked Firms Use Continuous Innovation to Create Economic Wealth" by Raymond Miles, Grant Miles, and Charles Snow to help us better construct a lasting framework for our Collaborative Innovation Group. I just ordered it from Amazon and I'm sure Michelle can provide a link to give credit to inventorspot for referring the business if anyone would like to order a copy for themselves.

Hi All:

There are so many topics in this discussion, it's hard to get what is going on in one read. Whew, you guys have been busy.

There seems to have been some significant tension building on this thread and I have received complaints about Bottle Sling Guy's participation in the discussions on this thread.

I apologize for not paying enough attention to this thread recently. You know, keeping up with the forums is getting to be a full time job in and of itself. :)

This is just my opinion but since I am the moderator of this thread, my opinion is law here I guess.

Bottle Sling, I can totally see what you were trying to do and the arguments you were trying to make. But the style in which you are doing it is a bit distracting to the core group working on the think tank. I think your comments were valuable in the beginning, but when people had moved on, you kept arguing for things the core team had already decided against. I think people percieved that as un-productive. You also brought a lot of points to the evolving discussions in a manner that felt confrontational rather than constructive in my reading of this thread.

I think everyone appreciates the energy, passion and humor you bring to the forums. I certainly do. But I think in this particular discussion, people just want to really focused on working on the think tank without further distractions. I think you had already mentioned this was not something you were really interested in, right?

Thus, I would ask you to be supportive of this emerging think tank by staying out of this discussion going forward. If you'd like to respond, please feel free to do so in a separate new thread.

If you are interested in doing so, I think it would be great for you to start your own thread on the idea of an inventor group working together to bring real products that are already patented to market. I think the idea has lots of potential and someone should lead that initiative at some point. Perhaps that person is you and the time is now?

I am not sure how everyone feels about this. This site is not a democracy but I am willing to go with the majority of active participants on this thread on this issue. So, if you disagree with my request for BSG to stay completely out of this thread, please tell me on this thread "BSG should stay in this discussion" over the next few days. If 5 or more of the active members of this discussion would like BSG to join in the continuing discussions, I'll invite BSG back. Until then, please BSG participate in all the other discussions instead. If you think that this is not an acceptable outcome, you can also raise that as well.

I would then ask people who may be interested in an inventions work group similar to the one raised by BSG to please participate and support his discussions. I do think he has some good points and it would be interesting to see them better flushed out.

OK? Thanks.

Michelle

Well I'm trying to wait till I recieve my new book to give me some ideas on how to better structure this group so I haven't posted in here lately. I would like to see what others think of the new list I wrote up. Let me know which points you like and which ones need to be changed. I expect most need to be changed in some way at least but I wanted to get the ball moving and have a refined list to better reflect where we were headed. I would love to get this all done with and get started with the fun stuff (Inventing) :)

?

The think tank is a good idea, but what is confusing is that it seems like only (1/2) half of the posts are here.

It seems like some of the posts are in response to personal e-mails & behind the seen communications.

Please start a new thread with clean posting so all the interested inventors can get involved.

I can not read this thread because it appears that only (1/2) half of it is here.

It does not make sense to me.

I would like to get involved with the think tank.

Inventor-X and ALL,
Welcome! This thread seems to have died off after Michelle eliminated the chaos. I was expecting a flurry of progress after the chaos was gone. We have seemed to lost (at least temporarily) the active involvement of many previous participant's. Is there behind the scenes discussion happening? I certainly hope not and I certainly would not undermine the focus of the group by participating in that kind of activity.
If any behind the scenes discussions have been happening by
anyone, please let me know. I do not want to be a part of any consortium
which partakes in that kind of activity. I would bet Average, you will find dicussion about this in the book you have ordered. I want to be a part of the Inventor Think Tank tm and am willing to give it 100%. I want to feel
accepted into the group, which at times I have not. We did make a lot of
progress beforehand, but we had a lot of unnecessary discussion and non value added arguing.
I consider myself a novice to inventing. I have one patent pending product. I developed and did my own prototypes. I heavily studied patent writing and the patent process in the past two years.
I have a degree in Electronic Engineering and have worked for my employer for 20 years. My job has required me to work with hundreds of different personalities from high school grads to PHD's. I like the idea of peer evaluation on completed projects from this group. I would expect to get a return based on my contribution to a project from small to large.
I am willing to invent simple items to the more complex. One thing I am for is getting to work and getting it done. I felt it necessary to give a little personal information, so that you know who/what you are dealing with from mojo (former pets name by the way). I feel the need to know if I am accepted into this group or do we need separation from novice to the more experienced inventors? I just don't know where I fit in or the acceptance level and thinking of the other participants. Anyway, future comments from me will be strictly about what we are trying to accomplish.

Regards, Jim

Mojo62,

I halted posting in here for a little bit to wait and read this new book that directly deals with what we are trying to do and I hope to get some new ideas and pass them on to the group while we are still hammering out the details. I was hoping that after rewriting the points Scrupulous would continue pushing it forward to get everyone else to agree on the points and if they don't agree say what they don't like so we can make it better. I really like how Scrupulous was moving it along and I feel kind of guilty pushing it ahead all myself since to get the best result we need to have many contributors.

As far as I know there isn't any behind the scenes jocking for position and I'm really glad that you gave us an honest look as to your skill set Mojo. I for one think you have a lot to offer the group. I think Roger Browns idea of posting all of our skills and atributes is perfect but I would like to see that once we have our own private forum and the group is created unless we think that is needed to decide who is right for the group?
