What they should have done was let you know up front they are looking for mass appeal products, not the alternative to fuel oil or a cure for cancer. That seems to be a major problem with these shows they don't know how to get the information to the Inventor so they can prepare prooperly and talior their ideas to fit the target market.
As they say " You don't bring a knife to a gunfight."
