Last night, in Game 3 of the NBA Western Finals, there was a goaltending by the Nuggets on the Lakers late in the 2nd quarter, which wasn't called by the closest referee. Looking at the slow-motion replay, announcer Jeff Van Gundy said "...there should be a chip in the ball that...when it's coming down, if it gets hit, it's an automatic call...I think that would be a heck of an invention..."

This was on live national TV.

My question is...assuming no one has ever suggested it, is he entitled to call himself the original inventor of some basketball with a micro-chip that at least partially determines when goaltending has occurred?
