Having a great time in Providence. Got to have dinner with citizen.
Chatted with lots of people today as I went thru the process. Showed my 2nd invention and made it thru. Judges gave me 3 yeses out of 3. It was just as much fun as Dallas. So I just have to wait- but at least I have 2 ideas the are under final consideration, and I got great exposure with the retailers. And yes Michelle, I talked about Inventorspot to other inventors!

The process was still a great one and would do it all over again...and will next year.

I gave myself the ride home to "mourn", lol and now i'm more determined to either make this idea work, or find one that will.

Hey Jason:

Sorry it did not work out this time. :(

I congratulate you for trying. Most of us never have the guts or the energy to go for it and you did.

I don't know what your idea was and what the comments were, but the really successful inventors keep the ideas coming and look for new opportunities.

Be brutal in evaluating your invention again after this feedback, and if it really is a winner, don't let this stop you.

Michelle

I'm still on my way home but the auditions went well. One of my ideas made it to final consideration and got 3 out of 3 yes votes from the judges. It was really nice to meet and hang out with ideagirl and citizen. The staff was great and I was able to check out some of the speakers this time so I really am glad I made the trip.

Things went well in RI but our product didnt make it through to the finals. That said, I thought it was a great expereince and I really enjoyed all the people that I met. It was obvious how smart and positive most of the people in the room were and I realized how much fun it would be if more people were like the "everyday Edison" type of people.

Good luck to everyone who is in the finals -

Does anyone have an idea of how many people passed the screening and was successful with the judges?

As of about 2pm the guy in the results room said that only about 30 people had made it through to the judges. I saw several people that didnt get the 2 judges votes they needed to stay in the running.

He also said that they thought they would have about 50-60 total that they would be looking at for finals...seems like a pretty small number but I guess that's what happens when you have to get it down to 12...

Of that number I would guess 35-40% made it to final consideration = 42-48 people. My estimate for all 6 cities combined would be 260-300 and from there 5% are inventors with multiple ideas (I would highly doubt they would pick 2 inventions from one inventor for the show) so that knocks it down to 247-285 ideas. Then they will, and have knocked out some for patentability issues along the way and before they further weed down the ideas so let's say that's 10% of what left. Based on those approximations there will be 223-256 inventions for them to sort through and determine which ones they feel with best fit the show. Hopefully this helps people get a better grasp of the chances.

Is this the number from RI or overall?

Do you know how many are still in for final consideration?
