I don't know 5Rocks, I don't mean to sound that way. I even added all those emoticons to kind of lighten it up even more. I try to keep things on point while still be amusing. I don't think I'm angry (maybe a bit jaded by my experience with the show?) and believe me, I don't wish anyone bad luck even if I am brutally honest with my opinions. And believe me I don't think my opinion is the end of the story. I've been wrong many times before in my life. I think comraderie is great, but there comes a time when friends shouldn't let friends invent while drunk. :)

That post was just my feelings on giving advice to folks considering auditioning. Like I said, if this year is going to be different like the grapevine says, how much advice CAN we give? Just do your thing and hope for the best. There are and will be many inventions that never make it past the cutting room floor but that doesn't mean they are not viable in the market. (that's not to imply you are saying anything contrary)

JohnnieD, no one was sure whether or not we could even speak about the show until after our segment aired. I remember this blog and others were brimming with anticipation as I'm sure is happening with you and others right now. The contract may have been changed since then so I really shouldn't be opening my mouth right now, but make sure you read it over a couple times (no matter how sleepy you may get). I'll add this: if you are determined to audition don't even bother reading any of it and just sign it. If you win, you win. If you lose you can still win, so my advice would be to go for it.

It'll most likely take you at least a year to get it going anyway, unless you have a large cash reserve sitting around. But if you did, why would you need the show? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

It's getting down to the wire here. I've got 7 weeks until the auditions in Orlando and I'll neet every bit of it. I'm still trying to make my prototype and I haven't even started on my pitch yet. Is anyone else going to be living on caffeine for a while or are you ready? Just wondering where everyone's at.

Anyone else planning to audition in Orlando?

JohnnyD, Here are the requirements. Read #10. If I interpret this correctly, if you are a finalist, and lose, you might as well put all marketing efforts on the “back burnerâ€

I will be auditioning in Chicago. I have been ready for quite some time because I mis-read the dates and thought Dec. 5, 2005 was Dec. 5, 2006   At least I didn't miss it! I haven't filled out all the new forms yet and I have to re-do my presentation board because the hotel door man got it caught in the revolving door :x . So good luck in Orlando :D

Scrapbookdi (is that short for scrap book diva?) calm down and breathe. The revolving door mishap should be a good lesson. Make your displays PORTABLE. What if it rains while you're waiting outside at 5am? Do you REALLY need all you want to bring. Will it take you ten minutes to set it all up? will it stay up and not distract from your pitch? It seemed during some of the first season's pitches the presentation was the joke and took away all notice of the product. Keep gimmicks and displays to a minimum (in my opinion). Does it need bells and whistles sitting on a retailer's shelf to get the point across?

Stay focused and don't panic.

Just to clarify...the display board is used to show the various uses of my invention, not an extra prop. All I have to do is take it out of the water-proof case that I sewed to carry it in and set it on the table and I'm ready to go.
