Here are some stats on AmericanInventorSpot.com to give you perspective on our site:
In terms of site traffic, we are currently rated today by Alexa.com at the top 71,968 most popular websites in the world out of the top 2 million or so tracked by them. (They count things like google.com, yahoo.com, nytimes.com etc. so we are in great company)
In terms of most linked and referenced websites in the world, according to Technorati.com today, we are in the top 3,456 most referenced websites in the world out of the 55 million or so tracked by them.
In Google search, we have a search ranking currently of 6 out of 10.
Under adstats.com, we have a average page views of 9,842 per day this year (but its very lumpy with high traffic and low traffic days - so ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 page views a day)
Under adstats.com, we have an average monthly visitors of about 200,000 to 250,000 visitors a month coming to our site.
I don't have complete info as our system hit counter works differently, and we have been on various versions of the site software but since we have been in existance, I think we we have had about 2.7 million visitors and about 5 or so million page views.
We do not have data on the number of visitors to our Invention Gallery, and we will work to put something up there to help us track that. More for our todo list.
The vast majority of our traffic comes from popular articles like the ones written by Amused and Rodd that get linked by other websites, but our google and other search engine traffic and our bookmark traffic for the site as a whole is growing steadily. We are trying to build a base of visitors who come to the site more frequently and build us our core fan base. To do that, we are trying to get good content on the site daily, but its a real challenge for us to do that. We're very lucky we have some really great writers on our site and wonderful contributions from the inventor community for our Geust Blog articles.
Hope this helps give perspective on our site and where we are at.
As far as we can tell, based on our research, there is no other website in the world focused on inventions that is more popular or has more authority (in terms of links or references from other websites) than AmericanInventorSpot.com and InventorSpot.com.
There are very popular start up business sites, innovation sites and gadgets and new product type sites, but none focused on independent inventors.
We do have a lot of work to do to continue to grow and to become the definitive and well known authority in the invention space and build our core base of visitors.
The support of inventors who actively help promote and build the site has been an invaluable resource in helping us grow.
