Question regarding use of existing parts in your prototype. What is the protocol of using existing manufacturers parts to create a new product? Is one better of avoiding existing parts to make something new? Obviously if you try to license your invention with existing parts incorporated into your invention everyone in that industry will know where those parts came from. Should I use them even if they are not patented parts by themselves? Or try to fabricate them myself (difficult). I can easily remove names from plastic parts. Ethical? OR highlight their use and try to sell that fact to the maker of those parts, which said company can use to manufacture my invention. Thanks in advance for advice, Kevin
No problem using other manufacturers parts. As a matter of fact, they will love it. That is just more sales for them. Depending on the quantity, you may even be able to get them to produce it with your name on their part instead of their name.
Making their part for your product would be infringement.
