Topics requested so far are:
  • USPTO Customer Number and Digital Certificates (a planned topic)
  • Prototyping Your Invention (by mojo62)
  • How To Finance Your Invention (by e-mail)
  • How to Generate Ideas for Inventions (planned topic)
I would like to solicit your ideas for topics here at Ask the Inventor. Although, I may not have the knowledge or expertise to address all of them, I will do some research and get the topics started. I have learned there is a wealth of knowledge in the people here and they will take the topics where they need to go and provide you with the information you need.

I am just a catalyst to get things started, the participants here are the ones that provide the information and make the topics the information source that everyone wants.

I will begin my topics, maybe even several at a time, and post them before they are finished. Join in while I am writing them so that I can address your questions, concerns, and comments. It will make them more interactive and better with your input.

Join in and let's get started!

How about prototyping. I've only been in the invention business for a couple of years, but to me prototyping seems to be one of the most important parts for success. For me, I like to see something work first hand before I'm satisfied with it.

I just made a decent prototype for about $10. I had to buy a few small parts at the hardware store. Other than that, everything else I needed was scrap stuff from around the house. If you don't have a lot of junk around the house or old toys to steal from the kids, thrift stores are a good source for prototype materials.

You can make and find prototype material everywhere if you have the desire. I find good parts in packaging trash, from old toys, lego parts, old electronics. You can mold prototypes or hard to find parts out of modeling clay. Plastic clothes hangers come in handy sometime too !!

For me, prototyping has been fun and a challenge at times. I am slow turning my garage into a prototype shop. Need to get more bins for the stuff I dig out of the trash though.

    Regards,
    mojo

    Excellent idea for a topic!

Sounds like you have the skills for producing prototypes in the area of your expertise. Most people are not so fortunate.

I look forward to your help and participation when the topic is posted.

    Thanks!
