I'm new to this site. Thought I would try something a little different. I have an amazing invention idea. Just recently worked with a company that was trying to "help" me. But really, I found out that they just wanted to scam me out of a million dollars. So I learned a lesson there. The problem is. Now I have to find another company. Honestly I'm stuck. And I want to start working on my invention ASAP. I have written information on my invention and lots of drawings. But I don't have the capability to make my own prototype, because the machine is so complex. It would take numerous people to make. I considered working with other inventors. But as far as now. I just need some advice on what to do.

Nope not yet. I thought you had to have a prototype to get a patent?

A patent is not your first step, necessarily. Neither is a prototype, especially for a complex project.

What you need to do next is find people you trust who have at least some ability to comprehend your project. Have them review your idea, and have them sign and date two copies (one for their records, one for yours).

Then, take a realistic perspective on whether or not to proceed, based on their feedback.

Keep your signed/dated copies indefinitely. Use them as further evidence of your concept, as you take it to people who are more qualified to advise/consult with you in their areas of expertise.

I know. I know...pace myself. This is not a sprint, it's a marathon.

Thanks for the support, mojo. It's good to BE back.

Hey Scrup,
Welcome back.

Becky,
You are also in a marathon. Scrup is right, find people you can trust in the field of expertise you need. The complexity of your project can pose issues. Try to break it down into sections if you can. Electronics, fabrication, chemistry ect.

Randy

Aw thanks for helping me so far. I don't feel so alone in this now. This site is really handy. How do I go about contacting people? The internet? Or try to find local people? Because, I live in a small town. And I don't think there's anyone near by that can help.
Do you know of anyone that would want to help? Or any good businesses that are trustworthy;who could help with building a prototype.

Have you worked with any companies that help with prototypes?
Like lambertinvent.com??
I know how big of a deal my invention will be once its done. I honestly believe it will be the next best invention out there.

I've been looking at this other company called T2 design and Prototyping. Looks like a good company so far. Heard of them?
