Those things are, I believe ,called Rube Goldbergs after a guy in the forties who drew war cartoons until the fifties that were all of that type. He was very ingenious in his designs. There was a game for kids that came out in the 60 or 70s, I can't remember now, but it was called mouse trap, and was a very simple design of this type. It used marbles. :arrow:

Ahhhh yes...mackgadget playin' the ol' Rube Goldberg card! LOL! Good point there, Mack. It is said of someone who over complicates simple tasks that they have created a "Rube Goldberg"...not necessarily intended as a compliment. This clip is awesome, and I really would like to know the set-up time.

I made a cool one of these for school way back when, but I must say this one take the cake. It's the most elaborate one I have seen. The only thing that bugs me is that a few of the triggers were dangerous and I like to see all the element self contained. What I mean is the candle would burn for a long time and the wax would get all over the floor. The water was turned on and filling the bucket but it would overflow and make a mess. Anyone else share my view?

My son and I play much simpler versions of these. Ours involve pennies and PVC pipe for now, but when he's older we are going to have some fun in the basement.

I loved the cell phones and the turns with the wine and egg.

you guys really wired the whole inside of the house!

yeah, could take some time closing the faucet and hosing the candle, though. good thing the marbles didn't fell off.
