If by average, you count all inventors including who lost money on their invention. You probably will get a negative number.

On a successful invention, what is the dollar amount an individual can make on a certian invention. Is it ever posible to get a small percentage on every product sold? Im new to all this. I need help.

If you simply provide the idea and someone licenses it from you and does all the other work (like patents and trademarks) you can expect around 5% if you are lucky. There are all kinds of add-on clauses that you would probably need an attorney to read over the small print and also suggest clauses you can negotiate with such as non-performance and not reaching certain benchmarks or else your percentage goes up. that last one, if you can get them to agree with it, is an incentive to actively sell the product.

Just remember, unless you have invented x-ray contact lenses, there probably won't be many folks banging on your door offering you money.
