I'm developing a product that will sit atop a drink glass, contacting the rim. It will not be drunk through, but rather removed when a sip is taken, and then replaced. I'm anxious to learn if the FDA requires that the actual rubbery material that contacts the rim must be made of some FDA-compliant material such as silicone, or if I have some latitude in this area. Any idea what document or website I can reference to find out? I don't want to approach the FDA, for fear of raising a red flag.
