Edison nation's innovation station is having a Spencer's product search. I post some info here. You can post anything regarding to this search here, too.

Challenge: Make us Laugh! We're looking for hilarious Novelty & Gag product ideas!
Details: Spencer's is saving the World one laugh at a time. We all have a favorite Spencer's product that has brightened our day at some point in our lives.

Remember Billy Bass? Yep, the singing, animated, wall-mounted fish that even Queen Elizabeth had on her wall (true story). How about the electronic, remote-controlled whoopie cushion? Ever see Polly the insulting Parrot? Well, Polly's looking for new ideas to bring a smile to your friends' faces.

Nothing is too irreverent for these guys. Dust off those great ideas that you were too embarrassed to show to your friends and you'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Bank? Oh yeah, in addition to helping save the World one laugh at a time, if your idea is selected, you will receive annual payments based on commercialization as well as a $2,500 advance. There is no limit to the number of ideas that may be selected for each search.

This is an interesting search. I am in the process submitting one idea. I am holding it as long as I can since once you pay the fee, you can change it any more.

When they started the search, I went visit their website and one of their local store. I was surprised by what they are selling. And there is one thing special about this search. At target user group field, you can specify user's age group, the biggest number is 25 and over. Once over that group, they call it "over the hill" I am 43 so It's safe to say I am over the hill. Besides I am from a different culture. Needless to say, it's hard for me to come out an idea that hits.

Yet never to give up, I took liberty to observe our youngsters on my light rail ride. Almost everyone of them listen to MP3 music( I listen to radio), Or on cell phone texting.... But the dress code is very different...

Finally I came out a great idea. I can't tell you here since here is a public forum; but it's great and I did patent check and come out clean (I was surprised). It should have no problem to apply a design patent for it.
Hope this time I will get a better experience than my online EE entry.

So far I have submitted 2. One is a fun idea, but very tasteful, and I'm not sure how interested Spencer will be. But's it a good idea- actually a product line. The second has to do with Sex, so is more in line with their mature theme! I love my second idea, it's obvious, and very funny. Not sure if it is wow enough. It is certainly not on line with that nasty parrot or stupid fish. But since they can choose to pick as many as they want for licensing agreements you never know! I do have 2 more that I plan on submitting, but they are both on the tasteful side, and just not sure. I wish they had discussed the target market and such. I feel like I'm inventing in the dark on this one. Well it's time for the big long wait.

So far I have just submitted 1. It is more of a gimick aimed at young girls 7-18 years old. As with most of us, I just do not think like Spencer's is aimed at. Like Ideagirl said it may to tasteful, but I do have my niece and nephew working on it so there is still a little hope.

Good luck to everyone here.

Randy

I just completed entering mine and my number is 12255. If it runs continuous numbers from casting call, the last known casting call number is 12026, so that's 200 numbers apart.

Last week, I have came up with my second idea for Spencer's search. Thanks Lord for my light rail ride, This is almost the single most important item for most riders including myself. (IMO)

I created 3D drawing and it looks ok. Not attractive, but better than dull look of currently ones. I hope they find it worthy.

Info where to submit....

I'm a huge fan of the Spencer Gag gifts. I think I religiously go to Spencer's first for that unique gag gift for that special someone. I have some ideas to submit for review, but don't know where to go to submit that info. Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction? Thanking you in advance.

I did submit one today and may again tomorrow. My daughter likes my second idea best which is the one I might do tomorrow. The question is that is says they want to be able to protect it. This is an addition to an already made item which has been out for years, so I am not sure if adding something new will warrant protection...so should I send it anyway. It is right up their alley though.

Makeworld better... Have you heard more from the EE show? I can live vicariously through you!

If you all have not been keeping up with the Q and A answers from Matt and Louis on the EN site, you should read up. It is a long page so go 3/4 down the page to see the answers about the left over submission info.
