Infomerical Pitchman Billy Mays Found Dead

Billy Mays, best known for his catchphrase, “Billy Mays here!” and lending his voice to product campaigns for OxyClean, Mighty Putty and numerous other As Seen On TV products was found dead Sunday morning by his wife in their Tampa home. Mays, 50, was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m.

“Although Billy lived a public life, we don’t anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days,” Deborah Mays said in a statement. “Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times.”

I was shocked to hear it and chilled by the prospect that it could have been the same thing that did Natasha Richardson in.

The guy was at his peak and whether you loved him or hated him, if you've ever dreamed of bringing a product to market you probably imagined Billy Mays or a guy very much like him making the pitch...

Is it just me, or did anyone else find the details and original reports about his death a bit odd?

Well, that's not exactly what I was thinking. I just thought it was strange that all these peculiar rationales came up right on the heels of such a bizarre 'incident' to begin with...

And wow, X, that's quite a statement as your 666th post at I-spot. :)
