I worked with an inventor through design, prototyping, and some tooling in 2009 who now has 4 products selling by 2010. This is unusual for most inventors and inventions but he has a few key advantages…successful business man, marketing power, and money.
The interesting thing with him (Paul Cutler) is that he invents products that fit his market and customer base. He has several other product ideas on the way and some that he won’t work on, not because they are bad ideas but they don’t fit his market. A lot of his inventions are based off of what his customers buy; he comes up with the better mousetrap. I put a link to the 4 products below that are available, these became real because he took risk and spent time in investing, tooling, packaging, patents etc.
The biggest point to be made off this post is that it is possible to get your idea to market quickly, especially if you know who you are selling it too and you push it through yourself. Many of his products sell well over 10,000 per month.
