Vogt Awards a scam or Not????All Inventors Help Us Out

Everyone who has a netwrok of associates and connections please check out the validity of this "group" It's called the "Vogt Awards" and it is based in the Louisville Kentucky area. Points of contacts are at the end of this email. I've had corresponce with a couple of people. Handle "Stereo-Vision" said he lives in the Louisville area and has never heard of them. I've asked in the form of a post if "Stereo" would check this out. I do not want to see anyone get screwed. Independents have a hard enough time dealing with industry. I'll try to get the docs the "Vogt people" sent to me on my web site as well as here. I've had to tinker with my web site a bit.........it may be because I am computer stupid.

I went there today, and they seem legitimate. The receptionist told me Lisa Bajorinas was out of the office, and she's never heard of Liz Alkire. She asked me to come back tomorrow. I asked about the Vogt Award, and she asked if I wanted to know about Small Business Development. I affirmed her answer, but she again said I needed to come back tomorrow. The bad thing was, it took me over 30 minutes to find a parking place, as I had to go around the block(actually 4 blocks) 5 times. I'll let you know more tomorrow.

Thank you for checking this agency or firm out. You could be saving a lot of Professional and Independent Inventors some grief. What I do not understand is how she never heard of this "Liz" character when her contact information is right below each other. Here is the contact web address:

I'm glad you brought that up, I went there and it seemed legit, as it was part of Kentucky Small Business Development. I was concerned about the receptionist no knowing who Liz Alkire was though, but a few days later, I tried to go back to find out more, but couldn't find a parking place within 5 blocks.I went around 4 blocks several times, but just gave up. I promise I'll try to go again Monday or Tuesday this week to find out more.

davh 12, I didn't have time to go there until today. It's on the 2nd floor and as soon as I came out of the elevator I saw the sign "We will be out of the office until Monday November 29th. Sorry for the inconvenience." That figures! I'll try and go back next week.

I finally got in there today, and they are completely legitimate. I spoke with Lisa Bajorinas. They work with the Kentucky Small Business Development Center. The Vogt awards endowment is jointly managed by the Community Foundation of Louisville and ENTERPRISECORP, which is the enterprise development arm of Greater Louisville Inc. By providing up to $250,000 to award winners each year, the Vogt Awards contribute to the long-term development of regional, development,and product deployment infrastructure. The Vogt Awards assist in creating opportunities for economic growth, thus enhancing the competitive position of the Greater Louisville area economy.

To receive this award you must meet their selection criteria of:
1. A truly innovative concept
2. Technical excellence
3. Economic impact
4. Anticipated social benefits
5. Potential market value
6. Operations to be located in the Greater Louisville Area
7. Ability to commercialize within 2 years

The application deadline is Sept.30th, so you'll have to wait until 2011.

It is not a scam. However, do not waste your time. It is government ran and is highly skewed towards tenants at the Purdue Tech Center in New Albany and MBA students of a UofL entrepreneur in residence. Both the Purdue Tech Center manager and the entrepreneur in residence sit on the board. Henry Vogt Heuser's intentions were good. However, he should have left the fund managed by some other entity. He's probably rolling in his grave now.

Look for private equity somewhere else!
