Great thread idea.

I think also these have inventors as central characters, though not sure some off them qualify as great movies:

Honey, I shrunk the kids!

Around the World in 80 Days

Gremlins

Weird Science- 2 boys "create" a woman

Hi All:

Loved the idea of having all these movies in one handy place so we created an Amazon store for great inventor movies.

Here's the link
http://astore.amazon.com/americaninven-20?%5Fencoding=UTF8&node=21

Please go check it out, let us know any we are missing, and if you have a hankering to buy any, please use this link so we get a small commission.

Thanks,

Michelle

12 Monkeys?
The Prestige?

Although Altered States is one of my favorite all time movies, Did he "invent" anything?

Did 12 Monkeys have an inventor as a central figure?

On 12 monkeys...

I guess the inventor(s) of the virus weren't the main character, but as a movie about searching for the inventor and the creepy ending, he and the syndicate sorta stick in my mind.

How 'bout Dr. Ock in Spiderman II (and the Green Goblin in Spiderman)?

I forgot all about The Prestige which had a nice part for Tesla in it. I'm not sure he had a major role, but it was a very good movie with an unusual surprise.
